Liposuction in Manhattan, NYC
No matter how much or how hard you exercise, some areas of the body just don’t respond. That means the fat clings there, taunting you and making you feel self-conscious or even embarrassed about your body. Liposuction from board-certified Manhattan plastic surgeon and general surgeon Tal Dagan, MD, FACS can help treat those stubborn areas, removing the fat and revealing the sleek, toned muscle underneath.
What Is Liposuction?
Liposuction is the removal of fat using small, blunt tubes known as a cannula. These tubes are tipped with a laser which liquefies fat cells so it can be sucked out. Fat cells will never regrow in these treated areas. Liposuction can be used for a variety of areas in the body but works best on the thighs, buttocks, upper arms and tummy. Liposuction is also often used in conjunction with body lifts to help remove excess skin and present a more toned, slender appearance.
Benefits of Liposuction
Liposuction offers a number of benefits, most importantly the following:
- Greater self-confidence and self-esteem
- Improved body image
- No more hiding your body under frumpy sweaters or jogging pants
How Is Liposuction Performed?
Liposuction uses anesthesia and is an outpatient procedure, so you can go home the same day. Dr. Dagan is a respected liposuction surgeon who has an artist’s eye. During traditional liposuction, known as suction-assisted lipectomy (SAL), Dr. Dagan makes a small, inconspicuous incision in the treatment area and inserts a cannula (a small tube). This tube is moved back and forth under the skin to help break up fat cells and fatty deposits, which are then suctioned out through the tube.
Preparing for Liposuction
Liposuction is an outpatient procedure performed with local or general anesthesia. It usually takes between one and five hours, depending on the amount of fat you need to be removed. Often, liposuction is performed in conjunction with a lift in the affected area, wherein the excess skin (which had been stretched by fatty deposits) is removed and tightened, giving you a more toned appearance.
As you recover from liposuction, you’ll likely feel swollen and bruised for a few weeks. Dr. Dagan will provide you with compression garments and antibiotics if needed. You may return to work within a few days but should avoid any strenuous exercise or activity for about a month.
Is Liposuction Right for Me?
Dr. Dagan will personally consult with you to determine whether the liposuction surgery is appropriate for your needs and also to ensure you have realistic expectations of what the surgery will accomplish. Liposuction is not suitable for anyone who is significantly overweight. Candidates should be no more than 10 or 15 pounds from their ideal weight.
How Much Does Liposuction Cost?
Costs for your liposuction treatment will vary depending on the extent of surgery or the number of treatments needed to achieve your desired result. Most insurance plans do not cover plastic surgery or specific cosmetic treatments. Dr. Dagan accepts payment via cash, check, or credit card.
What to Expect During Your Consultation
As the liposuction process has evolved and becomes ever more popular, so too has the demand for knowledgeable, expert Manhattan liposuction professionals. Dr. Dagan will personally evaluate you as a candidate for liposuction and detail the entire process as well as perform a thorough examination. Above all, he values your trust and confidence and will do everything possible to make your visit as comfortable and convenient as possible.
